Door Supervisor

All door supervisors must be SIA licensed to work in this sector. The training course is split into two parts and both parts and both must total 28 hours of traing with a 1 hour multiple-choice exam for each part.

A person holding a door supervisor licence can also work as a static, patrol and retail guard.


Security Guarding

Any security or retail guard that is supplied on contract must hold either a security guard or door supervisior's licence. Guards who are directly employed by the company do not currently require a licence but this is subject to review in early 2007. The training course is split into two parts and both parts must total 28 hours of training with a 1 hour multiple-choice exam for each part.


CCTV

Any person operating a public surveillane CCTV system must hold an SIA CCTV licence. The duration of this course is 4 days with a 1 hour practical examination in a control room.


Providing Security Services

This qualification is carried out on site over approximately 4-6 months. This can be used as an exemption to part one of the Door Supervision and Security Guarding (including Retail) SIA licensing courses.


Certificate in Security Keyholding and Alarm Response

This course is designed for any security operative who is responsible for securing premises and responding to alarm activations.


Arrest and Plastic Restraint

This course will teach people how to safely apply plastic handcuffs. The course is a 1 day practical event and includes insurance for one year.


Fire Training for Fire Wardens

Legislation and/or practical use of equipment to comply with the new regulations.


Dis-Engagement and Ejection Techniques

This one day practical event designed to instruct you on how to defend yourself against assault by a person or person with a weapon and how to escort a customer from a venue without disturbing other customers. This event is delivered by Geoff Crosswaite, a 2nd Dan, with 16 years experience in applied martial arts and 12 years operational experience within the door and retail security industry.
